Hi I'm trying to buy a new T9300 processor to replace my T5750 in my xps m1530, but I'm having a hard time finding a website or store that either sells in Canada, or will ship to Canada.
If anyone knows a website that sells to canada could you please let me know, ive been unsuccessful so far.

I got my T7800 from ebay and it's fine...
-
ebay.ca has a few of them, but their all opened. Im looking for a completely new product. -
AVADirect ships to Canada, I believe, and lists the T9300.
-
ouch its expensive lol, oh well -
Why new?
You can buy a Used T9300 with a million hours of use, and it will perform the same as a brand new one.
Processors do not wear, they will run forever as long as they arent overvolted and overclocked.

Just as other electronic devices, CPUs also have limited lifetime (albeit a very long one). There are some problems that occur during the lifetime of the CPU which will eventually kill them. Some of these problems are:
1- Electromigration
2- Stress Migration
3- Cracking due to Thermal Cycling
I don't have time to explain each of them. For the curious, you may search these from google and find extensive information.
Let's not give info in an area that we don't know of.

I believe that electromigration, while bad, it will allow for a greater overclock.
Correct me if I'm wrong. -
damnit avadirect is american site too, to ship to canada i have to pay customs and duties, just like all the other american websites (newegg.com, etc). Im not interested in paying another 200$ to import it, im looking for a canadian site that sells it.

I'm pretty sure it's not available new in Canada, at least by itself. If you really really really want one, just buy a brand new notebook, rip the T9300 out, and throw away the rest.

Joking aside, have you tried newegg.ca? -

Processor failure rates are so low, I wouldn't worry about any discrepancies between new and old processors (given that you are running them at stock speeds, of course). The first thing I did to my M1330 was upgrade from a T7100 to a T8300. The used processor costed about $170 on eBay and that was over a year ago. You could probably find a T9300 for that price now easily.

Going to cheap kind of makes me think there is something wrong with it.
Although i think in the end, if it fails, i can put mine back in right? or will it damage my laptop?
(yes il be running clock speeds, and at the same time il be buying a laptop cooler)
edit: quick question... if i buy from ebay, il probably go for the T9500 instead of the T9300, because its a 0.1 increase for around 20-30 bucks only. Only thing is, i know the T9300 will fit into my dell xps m1530, but i dont know if the t9500 will. So the question is, does anyone know if it will? -
-
no idea what that is, but i dont really intend to spend thaaat much money (the x makes it sound expensive!
)
not to mention both the t9500 and t9300 on ebay are both listed as new, so i think its an excellent price.
k i looked up the X9000, and i dont really believe i need that much power (not to mention the xps m1530 is pretty bad at cooling, which is why im getting the notebook cooler, although i dont think itll do well to the x9000, especially if i bring my laptop somewhere without it, which i occasionally do) -
lol, ok then
But yeah, if you can get a T9500 within $30-50 of a T9300 then I would say go for it. If it's more than that the 100mhz probably isn't worth it (in my mind anyway). -

thanks for your help! -

The M1530 is a Santa Rosa PM965 chipset laptop that accepts not only the older merom series but the T8100, T8300, T9300, T9500 and X9000 1st generation 800MHz FSB processors.
I have noted the only visible difference is when you do 3Ds Max scene rendering or decoding mpegs, the results show that the 300Mhz gain from the X9000 exceeds from the T9300 by mere seconds.
For games, I see roughly 2 - 3 fps gained average from the following tested games like Crysis, COD4/5, FC2, UT3 and L4D.
This is what your extra 300MHz will do for you over your T9300, that is if you purchase the X9000.
More importantly the sole purpose of the X9000 is for its OC'ing abilities due to the unlocked multiplier and thus you'll be sticking to just 2.8GHz stock.
I have seen one guy having an X9000 in an M1530 but it was running hot, at a high of 80*C and idles in the 60s. He had to remove it and place back the T9300.
As the others have mentioned and I agree with it, if you can get hold of the price of the T9500 for a price of a T9300, hell man, go for it.
PS, I may consider selling of my OEM T9300 as I have an extra T8100 lying around and I can just plug it into my 1720, as I rarely use it now. If you will, I can also sell my OEM 2.1GHz T8100 for whatever price you want.
Good luck. -
bought an p4 processor for my old desktop from ebay.
never worked. doa!
the other person was kind enough to give me a refund
wouldnt spend $250 for a doa.
is your processor really bottlenecking your laptop?
i kinda doubt it, but if it does, good luck!
