I'm planning on buying a Sager NP9261 come Dec/Jan time frame. As of right now I'm leaning towards the Q6600 cpu w/ 4GB ram (the 800Mhz) and a single 8700M GT gpu. I'm having a hard time deciding what to do as far as hard drives are concerned. I can get a single 250GB 5400rpm or do 2x 120GB 5400rpm in a RAID 0 or go with 2 80GB in raid 0 and a 3rd 80GB or just about any combination. I know nothing about RAID arrays can can't find much info on them.

Would I be able to backup a RAID 0 array onto a single external hard drive? Say I had 2 120GB 5400rpm in a RAID 0. Would I be able to back that up to a single external 300GB and then be able to restore from it as well? Would having a RAID array really be that beneficial over a single drive? Any advice for possibly using 3 80GB? Right now I've been running on a single 60GB until i went out and bought a 400GB external during my last deployment that is already completely full. I think in total between the 460GB i have of storage I have about 35GB of free space. That's about 15GB on the 60 and about 20 GB free on the 400.

I'm planning on buying a new external for a backup drive when I get the new laptop and not exactly sure what I should be looking for.
