The notebook I just bought came with 1GB of Turbo Memory. What is that exactly? Does it kind of act like HD cache? That would help improve the speed (however negligible) of a 5400 rpm HD would it not? Or am I way off? Thanks in advnace.

its for ready boost and ready drive for vista from intel

Turbo memory is basically flash memory that is meant to be used as a cache. It was designed by Intel however it does not show substantial increases in benchmarks or real-world use as the whole system still waits on the hard drive for data.

right now there is only 1gb of turbo memory

Its pointless if you have 2GB of ram or more. Cause basically. It goes from your HDD to either your RAM or Turbo Memory. It cant jump over the HDD to (HDD OR TURBO). So therefore basically its pointless. Unless your lacking alot of RAM.

-Intel makes it sound so good and includes convincing videos, but in real tests it isn't hellpful at all.
Turbo Memory...umm...what is it really?
