Just to make this clear this gives you:

    Access to EAX 4
    Clearer analogue (microphone etc) processing
    Clearer general sound.

Tried the link, sent me to a forum with a banner saying 30 mins.
I would install it, but with the fear of loosing my sound again, I'm not to keen on it. I can't find a driver for my laptop so I won't do it yet.

I did that driver upgrade, however I haven't noticed anything yet. Only the device name changed to "Realtek X-Fi". Nothing noticeable in the sound quality.

(Creative Software did not work. Only the driver seems to be running OK.)

As I said before, the only benefit (!) of this driver upgrade is that it changed the audio device name from "Realtek HD Audio" to "Realtek X-Fi".

Playback/Audio quality are the same. Nothing has changed in terms of audio capabilities (no equalizers etc). I would say it is totally useless.

Creative's X-Fi software is giving an error ("Compatible Hardware Not Found") and exiting directly.

Well it fixed at least one thing on mine: the crackling/popping when no sound is playing is gone.

I assume you're running vista and that's why it won't work with the creative software, it only works in XP as it says on that other forum!

However, i was having my thoughts on that it might only be a name-change in the device manager and nothing else... As that could probably do alot of placebo effect on alot of people, if it's only doing that, that is :)

The X-fi driver installed fine, but the software won't work. I'm using Vista, btw.

What kind of difference does it make?
