Hi people,
I want to run two external (non-mirrored) monitors from my laptop's DVI/VGA output port.
Has anyone tried doing this? Is there some sort of a Y-splitter that I can buy to make this happen ??
thanks a lot, appreciate it.

I might be wrong, but doesn't the video card have to support dual monitors? i.e. it has 2 outputs, and a setting to expand to dual monitor. On one of our desktops at work we have a dual monitor setup, the video card has a D-sub and a DVI port, the (CRT) monitors are hooked up to these. Don't think just a splitter would do it.

For example, at work I have a dell machine which has an ATI X600 card with a SINGLE DVI output. Yesterday I was fooling around in the lab and I found a DVI Splitter cable such as the one shown here:

I connected it to the video card and connected two 2001fpw monitors and wow! I am running both displays at 1600x1200x60Hz each.
So there is more to the story - dual-link dvi, no of display pipelines etc - and hopefully I will find out soon.
thanks for your contribution. -
We posted a review on the Matrox unit a few weeks ago that is exactly what you want.
