    They're both Gen2 drives, and I'm guessing the R5 ending part number is a newer revision is all. It's cheaper, so I'd go with it.

    You really can't go wrong with an Intel drive.

    The R5 is the retail boxed version, while the other is an OEM version.

    I was always under the impression that OEM versions are cheaper because they don't have the retail packaging and it's directly from the company.

    Well, notice that the 2nd one happens to have an instant savings of $25, which is what makes it cheaper than the OEM one. Generally, though, OEM drives can also sometimes have a different warranty period than a retail drive, but apart from that and the packaging are usually comparable.
