    Hey,
I'm in need of a new burner for my Uniwill 259IA (specs in sig) as the one it came with is giving me coasters... Anyways, just need some advice to some decent internal ones that will not break the bank (BTW, live in Australia so have to be available to there).

I've found this one, the Sony DWQ58A10, what do you think? Will it fit (it should I know, but I am more concerned about the faceplate cos the one on the Uniwill is kinda sunk in on the bottom and sticks out a bit at the top to follow the shape of the notebook). Any other suggestions, etc?... thanks!

are you sure it's the burner and not the media you're using ?

drumfu: Yep, tried several different media. Tried a couple of different software solutions. So far none have fixed the problem, so I'm fairly sure the drive is toast.

Ice-Tea: I know, but as I mentioned I live in Australia... I cannot order from that store, I need either an Australian supplier or international shipper.

You can use DVD Identifier to find out who is making the discs. What it says on the outside of the box is no indication of who is making them or if they are any good. Look them up on VideoHelp.com to see what experiences other users have had with them. You can also look up your drive to see what discs are working for other peoples. I don't know discs you are using, but Taiyo Yudens are widely considered to be the best blank discs, both CDs and DVDs. Verbatims are usually a good second choice. Depending on you drive, a firmware update or deleting the ide drivers may help. Good Luck.
