HELP!!! I'm currently cloning my 350GB of data from HDD to SSD(via USB 2.0) and it has an estimation time of 10 hours! It is only copying at 7MB per second(yes MEGABYTE not GB). Is something wrong???

MY Sony Vaio is 4 years old with windows 7 64bit, 8GB ram, sata 2, nvideo geforce gt 330M

Sound about right as an 'estimate'.

SATA2 HDD to SSD over USB 2.0... not what is considered the best throughput options currently available.

(That is reserved for multiple 10GBe connections to a NAS server (SSD based) with 10 drives or more). ;)

In reply to your question in the other thread (stop crossposting please...):

Yes, a direct SATA (even SATA 2) connection will be about an order of magnitude faster... USB (v2.0 or v3.0) sucks for small file transfers either with an SSD or not...

    Good luck.
