I have a 640m being delivered next week and I wanted a 9 cell to go with it. I ended up ordering a battery off of ebay thinking any battery that fit the 630m and xps m140 would also fit mine.
Can anyone tell me what battery specs are important.
The voltage is 11.1 vs 14.9
The Whr is 80 vs 85
I don't know the mAH

You should be okay, checking here

It looks like the 630m and 640m use the same size/type of battery -
I keep finding this same information on every google search I do... Notice 640m is not mentioned. Could it be because the 640m is a newer notebook?

The Inspiron 630m is an older model, yes. -
Should I cancel this order and pick up a model specifically made for the 640m?

To be safer, I would seriously consider doing that. The 630m is an older model, which makes me think the battery you're buying may also have been manufactured a while ago. If you've read through the battery guide, you'd know that Li-Ion cells begin to deteriorate as soon as they're assembled.
URGENT! Ordered a battery that might now work in my computer!?!?
