Hello All,
So recently I purchased a Toshiba Tecra M8-S8011X laptop - like many widescreen laptops its native resolution is 1280x800...
I also purchased a Toshiba Dynadock USB2 docking station/port replicator and a 22" widescreen Acer display...
Now I understand the technical limitations as to why I won't be playing any 60 fps righ res games via the USB2 port- and believe me- I don't want to- this is for basic, boring office work.
But here's the problem... the Dynadock doesn't have 1280x800 resolution supported... I checked the lenovo USB2 port replicator I have on another laptop (but not using the video out) and it also does not support 1280x800...
Both do 1280x768 or 1280x1024
I use my laptop with the screen closed and I want to use the Acer display as the primary/only display... Best I can do is 'mirror' the laptop screen but the resolution isn't available through the dynadock... So I'm at a loss. I've looked up a few other port replicators with video and can't confirm any of them run at 1280x800... Does anyone know if there are any out there?
Thanks
I find it hard to believe that a company like Toshiba that sells tons of laptops that have the 1280x800 native resolution wouldn't make sure their own brand 'docking station' can at least work at that size.

Why are you not connecting the 22" Monitor to the direct VGA port on your machine? Most toshibas have it(for projectors) and with that, you should be able to set a new resolution through your display settings regardless of native resolutions of the LCD panel. Getting a USB docking station with limited gfx capabilities won't solve your issue.

Connect to this adapter. Hit your fn-(monitor keystroke) to display the monitor only(and not both), then goto your display settings and change the resolution to 1680x1050! -

Or install powerstrip, that unlocks all possible resolutions, not just the pre-programmed ones.
However, I take no liability if that breaks something.....
