If you figured out your problem, can you post the solution you used to resolve it?

i couldn't solve it...i can't delete INFCACHE1 file in C:/windows/inf as it doesn't delete ...deleting this file & re inserting should hypothetically help..

I tried other hubs also...no USB hub works normally on vista...at the most it runs for 2 mins supporting itself only ...

I think no one can help as Vista just is impossible!

    Further description of problem:
All other USB devices are working on USB ports of my laptop...but each time when i connect a generic usb hub device...the driver installation just doesnt complete & i don't know how to manually install Hub drivers

So does anyone know how to manually install windows USB drivers?

Have you looked at the Event Viewer in Vista? That would be a starting place to see why the driver is not being installed.

As some one else mentioned there could be an issue with the hub itself. Have you tried it on another computer either Vista or XP?

sounds like you're not providing enough power if it cuts out.

i run vista ultimate and have no problems with any USB anything including a self-powered or a/c powered hub i bought for 5 bux from fry's.

i say user error or hardware problem with hub

try a different port...i too use a powered usb hub (kengston) and i have no issues...(well unless i dont safely remove my usb sound card and then it kills all usb ports till next reboot)
