Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and just wanted to ask if there was anyone else experiencing USB 3.0 problems on their Sager/Clevo and if therewere any fixes for it. I have a Sager NP8278-S and my USB 3.0 hub dies whenever I have Skype running, and/or am doing anything moderately tasking at the same time (e.g. After Effects editing or gaming). I have my mouse attached to one of the 3.0 ports, and it keeps disconnecting.

I first noticed it when I tried transferring large folders from an external hard drive, and the transfers kept failing near the end. The 3.0 hub is also connected to the webcam, I think, because when the hub dies, the webcam does as well. It's becoming really frustrating trying to troubleshoot the problem, and have done a majority of the basic troubleshooting steps, like installing new drivers and such.

If anyone could please help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

That sounds weird... your internal webcam dies? I do not have your model but I do not have your problem either. I would guess voltage issues, but if it happens on battery then it should not be that. I could suggest uninstalling the drivers for your machine and reinstalling them in the order they're meant to install in (you can contact Sager for the exact order necessary) and see if this fixes the problem.

If this does NOT fix the problem, you should likely RMA the machine. I'm fairly certain that behaviour is not normal in the slightest. Good luck!

Thank you for the quick response! I'll try re-installing the drivers all over again and see if that helps. RMA-ing will be difficult since I'm out of the country for a bit... so I'm really hoping that re-installing drivers in order fixes everything.

So are they all connected to the hub or to the laptop directly? If it's the hub then you may need a powered hub. If it's to the laptop directly, then it's a power issue and I would send it in to get fixed.

I have had a similar issue on my laptop since i got it, some USB 3 devices disconnect, reconnect randomly, from ane xternal 5.25 enclosure with a BR drive in it, or a 3.5 HD, and some USB 3.0 2.2 enclosures it happens, but not all of them.
