Ok, I moved from an HP HDX20 to a w870cu and now I'm trying to figure out how to dock the thing. The HDX went nicely into a XB3000 docking station, and that's the thing I'll miss the most about it.

I'm thinking about getting a expresscard USB 3.0 port, then running my many usb 2.0 devices off a powered usb 3.0 hub. In theory, that shouldn't bottleneck the hub, right?

The rest I'm just going to plug straight in. HDMI, LAN, etc.

USB 3.0 will only support the 3.2 Gbps with connected USB 3.0 devices. USB 2.0 devices will cause the USB 3.0 port to revert to USB 2.0 speeds. Thus, connecting many USB 2.0 devices to the 3.0 port will still cause all those devices to share the 480 Mbps and not the 3.2 Mbps. The port will only run as fast as the slowest link.

Wikipedia will further explain why this will never work.

Yep, you're right. I'll have to figure something else out.
