I am just curious what the best way to set my desk up with my USB Hubs is. I have quite a few USB devices, which are connected to 2x 4 port hub, and one 7 (I try to keep two open because they are easy to access for USB keys, so consider this a 5) port hub. When all said and done, do I gain any advantage from using 2 or even 3 ports on the computer, or will the speed run the same for everything if I daisy chain the hubs, or connect them to a central hub and that to the computer? I know that a computer truly only uses one bit at a time, so I am wondering if the four ports on my laptop are there for convience, or if it can truly run them all simultaneously. Thanks.

P.S. The devices I use include 3 hdds, my scanner, my cradle for my handheld, my wireless desktop, my printer, my remote, my TV tuner, and my modem.

    Hi,

Each USB port has a maximum througput of 480Mbit/s. So, connecting your devices to as much ports as possible certainly pays off.

Your scanner, cradle, wireless desktop, printer, modem and remote all have (fairly) low BW or are infrequenctly used, the other should be spread over as much ports as possible. And I would recommend setting up your tuner on a seperate port altogether, as this is the only 'real time' device in your chain.
