I want to find a USB Hub which is powered by an outlet so my computer doesn't have to do all the powering. I have 3 external HD's and I have to plug them all into my laptop directly, because the USB Hub causes problems, and sometimes they won't get recognized. I have a bit of clutter going on behind my computer and just want to find a USB Hub that can connect all my devices in one, and access power from an outlet.
    Is this available?

Yes look online anywhere. Try newegg - all you need to do is find a powered hub that comes with adapter. I have one right here on my desk.

And does it work to power all your devices at once without a problem?
I am looking to connect maybe 7 devices on one hub.

I have a 4 port and yes it does, including 2.5" HDDs in enclosures. You'll need to get an 8 port hub, the power supplies that come with them will be able to power everything you need it to - the only problem may be if you decide to connect eight 2.5" HDDs to it....that may be pushing it a little. But 3-4 notebook HDDs and devices should be fine.

    Thanks for the info.
I've been looking on newegg and all I can seem to find is 4 port & 7 port USB Hubs that use a power supply like this one
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817201009

Are there 8 Port or 10 port units?
Heres what I plan on attaching.
    4 External HD's in total
    1. Maxtor 160gb - 3.5'"
    1 Seagate Portable 160gb- 2.5"
    1 Western Digital MyBook Pro - 500gb
And soon 1 TB HD by Buffaloa, WD, or Maxtor

The other ports will be used by 3 mp3 player cords,
    And finally 1 mouse.

The MP3 Players are connected only when refilling songs, and charging, so majority of the time not connected. The power will mostly go for the external HD's.

Where can I find an 8 to 10 port?

The best hubs I have found are Belkin 7 port. They have a 2.5 amp wall wart and handle everything I have managed to plug in. They aren't cheap. but they are very high quality. I have one on each of the 3 puters in the house, and don't know how I'd get along without.

I generally find them for about $30 at Office Max.

Thanks for the info on that one. It looks like mixed reviews and people complaining of over heating and shut downs, any problems like that, and you think it will matter that I have 4 externals connected to it?

And are there such thing as 8+ Port USB Powered hubs?
I can't seem to find anything past 7. I don't mind paying anything below $100 for a good unit that really works in powering all my devices without any heating or conversion problems because I just want it all to work. Any devices greater than 8+ ports of quality?

Anyone got any opinions on the DLink Dub H7?
It has a 3A output and has pretty decent reviews.

That's the only affordable 8 port hub I've seen. Thanko Gold Ingot from Audiocubes.

To be honest, I don't think they make too many because not many people have a use for that many ports. In your situation I'd just get a drobo or any other NAS and save desk space.

yeah that drobo is damn expensive, thats why i think i might just have to go with a 7 port. My Problem is that I don't like to keep switching out usb slots when I need to use something so thats why i wanted an 8 port unit.
Is this ingot any good? It does come with an ac adapter, but i can't find reviews on it anywhere!!
have you had a chance to use it?
