Hi guys, I am looking for the answer to my USB port trouble!
I have an MSI GX740, had it a fair while now and it has survived alot, I have upgraded the CPU and replaced the keyboard, now I am hoping to figure out what to do about my USB ports.
I have 3x normal USB 2.0 installed and one E sata which functions as a USB port also, problem is 3 of them have gone kaput and one is hanging on by a thread! two are completely loose inside the laptop now, so I am worried about them for a start!

Does anyone know what I need to look for when buying new USB ports for this laptop, as they have models on eBay.
I should be able to solder them onto the board no problem and two have come off on their own so I assume the solder has simply broken away.

any help is much appreciated, I need usb ports for my external hard drive, mouse and headset at least, I currently use a 4 way USB splitter in the one remaining port. :(

Bump on this one, I just need to know what type of USB ports I need to order, and if possible how to remove the motherboard from the chassis to do this.

Look on eBay there might be a repair shop to fix your bad ports otherwise you can just get a working motherboard and change the internals out and you will have USB back working again. But that will depend on how much money your willing to spend to fix or just replace the board.
