I had my motherboard replaced last week over a burned GPU. However the problem is that my USB mouse is not detected at startup automatically (when its already plugged in the port). The mouse will work if i remove it and plug it in again. The old motherboard has also this problem, however then it was only occasionaly. now after every startup the mouse needs to be reinserted. i have tried changing the mouse but no changes. The touchpad works fine (i hate using the touchpad). Although this is a small problem it is annoying me. any help shall be appreciated

This is a shot in the dark but...

Try to restart and while your mouse is still not detected go to start->run type msconfig(or just type msconfig in the search bar) press enter then go to 'services' and see if "Human Interface Device"(HID) is running. If it's not running then go to 'tools'(same window where 'services' was), select "Computer Management" and hit launch. Now in the new windows go to the left side, find "Services and applications"->"Services". Find HID in the list, rightclick on it hit 'Start'. Check it's "Startup Type". Change it to "Automatic" if it's set to anything else(rightclick->properties).

Edit: Even if HID is running, check it's startup type anyway maybe it's set to "Automatic(Delayed Start)" or "Manual". Try to set it to "Automatic" and see if helps.

Note: This "walkthrough" is for Vista.
