When you install a USB device onto your laptop or desktop (in this example I'm using a webcam as a reference) & I'm talking about drivers for the device now...is the original USB port that you installed the drivers for the device on the ONLY USB port that you can use with that device or can I still plug in my webcam into the other USB ports on my machine and the webcam will still work?
OR
If I want to be able to use ANY USB port on my machine to plug my webcam in, does the drivers for the webcam have to be installed on every USB port that I have?
I hope my question makes sense and doesn't confuse anyone?
I ask this because I notice sometimes I will plug my webcam into the port on the right side of my laptop but I get a error message from Windows telling me the hardware didn't install properly. Yet if I unplug it and plug it into the original USB port that I installed the device on, it works fine! Sometimes it doesn't give me issues and sometimes it does.
And while I'm on this topic...can multiple USB devices be installed on the same USB port? Sometimes I might not remember which port I originally installed the drivers on for that particular device.
Thanks!

Sorry, the title SHOULD have read:

Once the driver is installed it should work on any USB.
The error you're getting may be due to the cheap webcam, or the plug was inserted slowly, or makes poor contact.
Next time you see the message, just unplug and reinsert and see if that helps.

Does that USB port work with other devices?

Most probably the error you get is due to a loose connection.
If you click the error message you should find that the computer has listed it as an unknown device.
