I have a demo model laptop on the way. What are the implications of having a null UUID? From the screenshot the seller gave me, all the uuid digits in the bios are 0. The mac address is also 88 88 88 88 87 88. Will this be an issue? I think I'd have to get the Thinkpad Maintenance Diskette to modify these values if it will be.

For one, I don't think Windows will be able to activate, as that's primarily what it uses as a unique machine identifier...

Found out through experience today, it hasn't affected anything (as far as I can tell).

Has Windows been activated? Interesting. It's like it doesn't have an identity.

The laptop truly almost doesn't have an identity. It's some sort of pre-production unit with a non-production label at the bottom and a serial and model suffix that aren't in circulation. It also came with a bios version 0.03 when the initial release was 1.0x.
