Im prepering to buy a HP dv9500t laptop. im not sure about one spec. Can somebody tell me should i pay 150$ to upgruade Display from 17.0" WXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1440 x 900) to 17.0" WXGA+ High-Definition Ultra HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1440 x 900). Why Ultra HP BrightView is better than simple HP BrightView?

I think the Ultra HP BrightView has dual lamps. Here's an insert from a review of the HP Pavilion dv8000:

The WXGA+ screen is also available with Ultra BrightView technology, which like Toshiba's Ultimate Trubrite technology utilizes two lamps to give a much brighter screen view. HP advertises Ultra BrightView as achieving nearly plasma TV levels of brightness, and the difference in brightness between two and one lamp is significant.

Interesting story, both my roommate and I bought dv9000s without discussing it with each other. My roommate did get the ultra Bright view (2 lamps) and I bought the standard (1 lamp but with the higher resolution). On its own the 1 lamp is ok, but when you put it next to one with 2 lamps the difference is obvious. After seeing the two side by side my screen always seemed like it was too dark, almost as if I had turned down the brightness down to the minimum.

I ended up returning mine and bought one with two lamps, and it makes a big difference. The screen looks so much better, movies, games, and regular usage look much brighter. I would much rather prefer the two lamps over the Higher resolution screen upgrade.

If your someone who plans on using your laptop usually on the charger and for long periods then I would strongly recommend you get the dual lamps. If you think your going to be mostly traveling and living off battery life, then its probably not the best choice.

    NINJAFISH,
I haven't seen the ultra bright view display. But I noticed on the regular 1 bulb screens the especially the white color of the screen looks scaley. Not as pure white as when I look at the HP 6500 15 inch series screen. Does the ultra bright minimize this at all?

    Thanks
