Hello again! I just got my brand spanking new sony VAIO CR series which i cutom ordered with my name and number engraved on it pretty coool

    Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7700 (2.4GHz)
    2 GB DDR-SDRAM (DDR2-667, 1 GBx2)
200 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive 5400rpm
Mobile IntelĀ® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100

    etc etc

anyways i have Vista Business on it and after closing many programs and disabling alot of things, the base line RAM usage is almost 800mb! thats almost half my RAM and im going to be using some heavy duty programs like serato (dj software) which is the main purpose of this new laptop...

The sony vaio CR series are expandable upto 4 GB...so my question is, what RAM to get.. I live in toronto and im planning to buy from these guys:

    http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProdList&cmd=pl&id=RAM.187

So can i just use any RAM or does it have to be specific, etc etc? ALso, can i install the 800 mhz ram considering the ram i have is 667mhz?

My chipset is Intel 965M i believe.

    LET ME KNOW THANKSSSS!

Just make sure that you know what model of RAM you need. (ex: pc2-5300). Go to sony of look at your current RAM. Another thing, no i think your stuck with 667Mhz. As far as i know, you need Centrino Platform Monetiva (or something like that) to have 800Mhz. and i belive that it is not out yet. But wait for more replies because im mot positive.

You have to use DDR2 memory, but the speed is less relevant. You'll preferably want 667MHz, but 800MHz and 533MHz will work, just not optimally.
