I have a 120GB Agility 3 running with no problems on my computer. However recently I noticed a slight decrease in overall performance so I decided to check if TRIM was enabled. I fired up an elevated command prompt and typed in "fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify". To my surprise it returned a 1. So I went ahead and typed "fsutil behavior query|set DisableDeleteNotify = 0". I check again and it still returned 1. Any idea what's going on?

    Thanks.

What chipset, SATA driver and cpu are you using?

(I'm guessing AMD and/or Marvell controller).

Mystery solved. Command should be "fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 0"

Thanks for posting back with your solution - glad to see I was wrong (about AMD cpu...) and that your 'fix' was quick and painless.

Curious though what problems IRST caused you?

    I'm running v10.6 and I don't think I have any issues.

Interestingly enough, it was causing slower read/write speeds as well as regular hangs/freezes. Sometimes the freeze would happen during startup and Windows would fail to boot. Uninstalled IRST and used the MSAHCI drivers instead, problems went away.

Just to be clear, were the slower read/writes with some benchmarking program, or were they noticeable in your regular usage?

IRST installed does cause the benchmark 'scores' to drop - but actual use is noticeably better than with the AHCI v1.0 drivers.

To be honest, between the frustration of having to power up and power down the machine 30+ times to get it to boot to Windows and having to wait for the freezing spells I couldn't really test the speed during regular use. But the benchmark scores were lower as you mentioned. I may give IRST another shot in the future.

I had issues with RST as well, mostly the freeze/delay on startup. I then noticed that the service starts as delayed. I set it to just automatic/not delayed and it no longer does that on startup.

hmmm...thanks for that bit of info. I may just install IRST again and give that a try.

    Nice tip!

I just took my IRST off of Auto/Delayed and the system is noticeably less stuttery on startup.

    +rep!
