***THIS TIME ON THE CORRECT GROUP****

    Hi,

I have bought this VPCF136FG/BIE1 Sony VAIO laptop a year back in Singapore. I am trying to burn cd/dvd-r using the optical drive and the drive is not able to recognise any of the cd or dvd-r.

Please note I have changed the region code to 2 as i am in London now and the dvd-r were brought here.

I have tried uninstalling the TSST corp DVDWBD TS-LB23A driver multiple times and reinstalling and also the firmware is updated to the latest version.

Btw I have Windows7 home edition and I tried burning using Nero11, inbuilt s/w

ANy help or pointers on how to resolve this is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried the upper/lower filters fix?

Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

You can run the Fix It from Microsoft or manually go into your Registry and delete keys. Word of warning, deleting/changing values in your registry can always cause harm, always back it up before modifying it.

If you do the registry fix and it still doesn't fix it, likely you have a bad optical drive, had an HP slimline with the same issue. They replaced the optical drive and it fixed the issue.

    Many thanks for your reply.

I tried the MS FIx it and the end game I get

"Media in CD/DVD drive is not writable (TSSTCorp DBDWBD TS-LB32A)... THe drive is empty or the media format is not writable"
