Probably a problem with your bios. Check around to see if you have any settings in a position that might have to do with it.

But it worked with the previous cpu(T5xxx), I haven't changed anything at all in the bios. But I also put a 8600M GT inside too, but that shouldnt bother the cpu, and I dual booted Vista and the prob persist. I put some AR5 on the cpu too, only on center part.

All T-series processors support IDA. It's a feature of the BIOS as to whether it can be implemented or not. In the case of my Vaio CW, it wasn't avaliable. I think the OP needs to update his BIOS, and possibly re-install Windows. When a CPU change is involved, re-installing the OS is usually a good thing to do.

    That's not true.

I can not think of anything the BIOS could do that software couldn't activate IDA.

Windows has nothing to do with it.

If the OP spends 2 minutes downloading the above mentioned software, it's free and doesn't need to be installed, then he can check for himself. My hunch is the T6400 doesn't support IDA contrary to some posts elsewhere.

IDA availability depends on particular CPU model (it's fused in CPU and there's no way to enable it if the CPU doesn't allow it, not even BIOS..)

BIOS must allow/enable the use of IDA even when IDA is supported by the CPU.

Thank you, to all the gave input on my problem. The guy that said the T6400 doesnt support IDA is correct, I dl'd the HW moniter and it showed that it wasnt support, but i spent 30 bux on this so it's fine that it's not working. My t5270 in one of my comps could use IDA so I assumed the T6400 could also do it.

I wonder if all T6400's are that way. It reminds me of some time ago of the P7350 which didn't have VT even though Intel's site and just about everybody else said it did. Quite some months later VT was retracted from the P7350 specifications. Just to make things even more complicated a P7350 was produced for Apple (BGA IIRC) that DID have VT. So just the CPU Brand Name isn't always good to go on.
