So previously i had laptop with nvidia 660m, Its clock was clear as daylight, maximum for me was 1085mh on gpu, and that value was always on screen when i'm loading my gpu.
Now i'm on acer g9 593 with nv 1070. My temp are always in safe zone 60-65, but that's what i have:

Gpu-z tells me that my stock clock is 1443
https://pp.vk.me/c604621/v604621184/1c83e/2vTFQSo_-5Y.jpg
If i enable load via gpu-z i'll have 1885
https://pp.vk.me/c604621/v604621184/1c825/iBgdmtfaSSo.jpg
In Rise of Tomb Raider i'll have 1734 in 1080p
https://pp.vk.me/c604621/v604621184/1c82f/_dB1gueAf4I.jpg
And 1506 in 4k
WTF? I don't understand this? Why it can't be always 1885?
-
Maybe it has something to do with the new feature called Turbo Boost 3.0?
Speculation of course. I am a totally n00b too when it comes to Pascal.... -
I'm not an expert either, but I think the clocks will start dropping as low as 50 or 60C depending on the GPU bios and how the manufacturer tweaked it. Also power limits in place could hold the clocks back too. So it's not as simple as being below 90C and holding max clocks forever.

Clock speeds should not drop at such a low operating temperature. It should only start lowering speeds at the specified 83 celcius mark according to specification. Power limits can be a factor but if the notebook is adequetly supplied with power (unlike the Aorus X7 DT which is currently drawing more than 250w under load whereas its power adapter is rated at 230w)

Sorry. You're completely wrong

I'm back here. Take a look:
Take a look, this is mine, +150 on Core and Memory:

17 000 on GPU

23 200 on GPU
Both PCs on 1070 laptop. -
Another thing, take a look:

GPU-Z bench, full load on GPU, 1885mhz on core and voltage 1.0620, looks okay, right? Card is working on full speed under load.
Then i launched 3dmark time spy:
https://pp.vk.me/c636820/v636820184/5486e/UXrsr5cLlE4.jpg
It also loads my gpu on 97% but this time my clock is 1683 and voltage is 0.8930.
PerfCap showed PWR limit for few seconds, but then it was Utilization limit. But why? I'm not getting 100500fps in this test...
I really can't understand this
-
3DM Time Spy use more power than Gpu-z bench under load. Run Hwinfo into the background for monitoring graphics max powa and yoo will understand why this happens.vorob likes this.

I checked, its 123W vs 100W.
And what do you think about clocks? ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/understanding-clocks-on-pascal-gpu.799605/#post-10471909)
Same GPU, but such huge difference.Last edited: Feb 27, 2017 -
All ODM/OEM's can put whatsoever TDP they want for graphics used in their laptops. + Lowest possible temp means a lot for Pascal graphics performance
Already around 46C is the limits.

Okay, let's imagine that it's really about power consumption. I launched furmark and what I see?
https://pp.vk.me/c636820/v636820184/548bd/HBwpQQisfcc.jpg
99% load, just 0.68 voltage, just 106w, and just 1328 clock
I don't understand this at all. -
Never ever use Furmark!! Banned by Graphics vBios modders. Graphics manufacturers have put in throttling in VBios firmware because of this Virus. You will kill your graphics in the end if you still use it. And I have already explained for you 3 times now the reason you can have lower graphics scores and clock speed!!!
-
Wow that's hard. Prime95 banned, furmark banned... where can I read more about it?

Prime95 isn't banned. Changed with Skylake and Kaby. But P95 will of course push your processor to the max limits!!
-
I thought that was the point, load as much as possible to stress test your pc and find weak points.

Yeah, but do it correct!!
