Hi, I've read some of the threads concerning undervolting in the forum and have come up with a question concerning undervolting 2 specific CPUs. The Turion ML-30 and ML-32. These processors are being offered in the preconfigured Canadian version of the Compaq v2000. (no customization). getting the ML-32 means a 60GB instead of a 80GB with the ML-30.
My question about undervolting these CPUs is related to the cache size. From what I gather, when undervolting and doing simple things like wordprocessing or surfing the net, the processor will be clocked down to 800Mhz.
So from my understanding no matter if u have a ML-32 or a ML-30, the speed will be the same. But in the case of the ML-30, i has 1MB of L2 cache, whereas the ML-32 only has 512KB of L2. So at this clocked down rating, wouldnt the ML-30 prove to be more "powerful"?
Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.
maybe in a couple weeks there will be a preconfigured ML-34.
..i wonder if this post would go better in the HP/Compaq forum where there is already a very active undervolting thread.

Yes, at the same clock speed the 1mb cache Turion will be faster, but the difference will be minimal. Frankly I would say the difference will hardly be noticable under regular use.

thnx for the info..i was wondering about that...
