I just bought a Dell Precision M6600, compromise between work and play. It screams for graphics (Fire ProM8900, AMD 6970 with pro OpenGL drivers), but I cannot get more from my 2920XM because the TPL is locked in ThrottleStop v3.00.

I can adjust TRL, but I see no gain without adjusting TPL Its all grayed out.
    Am I SOL?

I have an older DP M6400 with the QX9300 and I got serious gains with that more simple processor using Throttle stop to OC to 3.72 GHz (14.0 multiplier), which was effectively a 38-50% gain in processor based benchmarks, and I did it with no serious thermal issues.

    Yea...

In general you want to make distinctions between you tech acronyms and your netspeak acronyms

I don't think you are SOL, haha.

Anyway, you should post in the throttlestop thread, the programmer frequents these forums and is probably working on the problem you speak of.

Actually I doubt you are locked out.
Did you try right clicking and unlocking multipliers? Also the turn on button.

Did you check in the BIOS for TDP settings? I know some of the Alienware systems with SB chips have this option there. Otherwise you're probably screwed, it's up to the manufacturer to lock or unlock this feature. If it's locked through the BIOS there's nothing Throttlestop can do.

nmr600: Most manufacturers have decided to lock the Turbo Power Limits register in the bios so the days of unlimited overclocking with a few ThrottleStop tweaks are over.

If there are not any options to adjust the Turbo Power Limits in the bios and the bios has locked this register then there is nothing that any software can do to modify these limits. The ThrottleStop Turbo Ratio Limits are also useless now on Sandy Bridge. The only way around this is to modify the bios.
