My friend's laptop blue screened on her and she got the Unmountable boot error message. She called dell, and fortunately, she was still under warranty and so they'd send her a new hard drive. However, a bunch of her school work files and what not are still on the damaged hard drive. Dell recommended Drive Savers, but from what I hear, its going to cost an arm and a leg. Anybody else got suggestions on how to recover data from a corrupted hard drive? FYI-- she only has ten days before she has to return the damaged hard drive to Dell and OS can't even load. Thanks in Advance! :)

Put the drive in an enclosure and get the data on another computer?

yeah, buy a usb/firewire enclosure for 2.5" hard drives. plug it into another computer and grab what you will.

get 'em at newegg or fry's if you need it asap. i bought one off bensbargains for 9 bux. it's usb2. i keep my mp3 on it.
