Hmm, I got my E1705 about two weeks ago with a gig of RAM installed. Well, all of a sudden I come into a little extra cash and would like to upgrade to 2 gigs of RAM (I'm a gamer...hmm, that should explain why). I've never bought RAM for a laptop before so I went to newegg and found these two selections: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?N=2010170381+1309121117&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=381
I can't figure out what the difference between the two of them are other than the price. What would you go with?

Crucial is a more trusted name, especially amongst the NBR members.

Well, what im really asking is: is there a difference between them other than the name and price. If there the same exact thing i dont care how trusted you are, thats still a 60 dollar difference.

Trust is built on reliability. Two parts may work exactly the same...but one breaks down sooner than the other. Why? You call the company to see, one responds better than if you had called the other. Etc, etc. Did you check the company website for specifics? I know Newegg lists latency specs, but can't remember any other off the top of my head.

Yeah, it all looks exactly the same...I was just thrown by the price difference. Hey, it DOES have a lifetime warrenty. And how can ram "break". Its not like a hard drive which has moving parts...hmmm, maybe I'll hold off for a little. I dont really NEED 2 gigs at the moment anyway.

Mushkin used to be well respected back in the P3 days. I'm not sure what happened to them but they seemed to disappear or at least was not in the limelight, (in terms of being reviewed by the enthusiast crowd). They are known to make good ram. I'd say they are on par with Crucial, Corsair and Kingston. Also, since it comes with lifetime warranty, it should be a safe buy.
Unsure about buying RAM...
