I tried posting this in xps 1530 owners thread, but i'm not sure that was the right place.

i bought mine a few weeks ago and have been noticing CRAZY heat on the bottom, underneath the touchpad. it is ALMOST too hot to touch.

i read about the wireless card causing heat issues and that is where it is installed. does anyone think upgrading my card will help this issue? if so, what card should i get. i was looking at this one on ebay, but i'm not sure if they are compatible with my system. and if so, will they help with heat?

    advice, please!

The machine should accept any mini PCIE wireless card, though I've never heard of a wireless card overheating. I suppose it's possible, but it may just be the result of some other problem, and not a result of the card itself running hot. If the card itself is indeed defective and overheating, changing it out should help.

i'm not sure what else it could be, as i said, i read that others had a problem with heat in that area when using the dell wireless card.

Your laptop should accept any wireless card as all the connectors are the standard ones.

Take out the current wireless card. See if it's still hot. Make sure it's not your GPU - the XPS 1530 uses the Nvidia 8xxx series.

He said the heat is under his touchpad. Obviously this isn't his gpu.

Still worth taking out the wireless, in my opinion.

Check if your fans and cooling system is properly working, overheating can be a very big problem in the long run..

I'm not sure how to check that- the fan comes on when it is sitting on my lap with a blanket under it which seems appropriate. The heat is concentrated in that one area specifically (under the touchpad).
