    I have acer aspire 3023 with amd sempron 3000+, 1.8ghz, 128kb.
    Can I upgrade processor to AMD Turion 64 MT-30, 1.6 GHz, 1 Mb c., socket 754, BUS 1600 MHz, tray?

    Theoretically it is possible but it depends on the BIOS support.

    I'd upgrade to a faster hard drive first as you'll get more bang there.

    I have 7200rpm 80gb and 1gb ram, x700 128mb
    how can I now if I can upgrade from bios? bios is 1.18 from acer site.

    Well, I doubt that Acer will tell you(could give it a shot though) and the only way to find out is if someone else has done the upgrade successfully.

    No, again for a couple of reasons...

    1. The BIOS probably wont support it
    2. The laptop was designed for a cpu with a max power consumption of 25W or 35W. Changing this with a cpu which has a thermal charecteristic of 62W is pure suicide. The cooling system and the most importantly the power supply probably wont be able to take the extra strain. You can probably run the processor with CnQ(cool n quiet) enabled but the minute you use the full power of the cpu, the system wont be able to supply sufficient power and the cpu might also overheat.

    So, your cpu upgrade choices are pretty much limited to a higher grade mobile Sempron(25W version) or a Turion ML. If you are willing to take the risk then you could try the Turion MT. Any other cpu probably wont work.
