I have a Toshiba Satellite A205-S5804 I have herd the cpu can be upgraded. I bought a T7300 2.00GHz/4M/800 SLAMD LF80537 and installed it but now the Machine won't come on.
Does any one know what type of Cpu this machine will upgrade to?
Please help if you are sure.
    Thanks,
    Bo

Looks like the T7300 will not work as it has a 800MHz FSB. The machine you mentioned appears to have an Intel GL960 chipset, a particularly stripped down and lame chipset from the era. It supposedly only supports 2GB of RAM (according to Intel ARK) and clocks the RAM and FSB at 533MHz bus. You would have to choose a CPU that has a 533MHZ FSB, looks like the best is a measly 286MHz bump in clock speed to the T2390...Some conflicting reports around the web suggest that the GL960 might support 667MHz FSB, but since Intel do not list that as officially supported, I am not sure what to make of these 'reports'. Some hacking with the BSEL mods might be useful.

IMHO it is time to start shopping for a new machine. I had a Toshiba A205 (can't recall exact model) and it was a dog, disassembly was a real PIA. I guess there is a reason why BB knocked them out so cheap back in the day.

I do know because there is a pin difference you can use the T7200 and that will work fine for you I upgrade the same model like yours to a T7200 and now it has a faster response and boot. I found it on Wikipedia but I don't remember that exact link but that link if I can remember has very good information on the processor family line for that laptop.

Here is the link this will help you better for your upgrade....remember to reference Wikipedia was your source as as was the poster whom found this for you.
