OK I've had two different sales reps at HP tell me that I can purchase the nvidia 8400 later to upgrade from intel integrated graphics. I said, how much is the card and the guy said it was $69.00- I said, no you don't understand, I want to know if I can upgrade AFTER I buy a laptop with integrated graphics. He assured me that I could. I didn't believe him so I called back later and the second guy said the same thing. The first encounter was a live assistance chat so I have the chat log. If they are lying I can stick it to them later...

I still don't believe them... can anyone else confirm this to be true?

No IGP (including the X3100) can ever be upgraded...there are many supporting threads here on the forums.

Hmmm.... I smell a discount comming my way! I've got evidence that their sales reps are claiming you can upgrade. I made it clear several times with BOTH sales rep that my intention was to upgrade from integrated to the 8400 and it was NOT at the time of purchase but later on.

I can't wait to see 'em try to weasel there way out of this one...

What about the ATI/AMD RS690 chipset, as i think its called though? The one in the MSI GX610 and I think the ASUS FKa..a1. That has integrated graphics but is fitted in those models with an HD 2600. You can switch which one is used in the bios, to save battery. Maybe this is a similar case?

And Sony has one that can switch between the X3100 and 8400 but that is not the same as upgrading later.

From what OP has said sounds like they are wrong but if it ends up you have to file a lawsuit is it going to be worth it? I am on your side but don't think it will work out so well in the end. Maybe a discount at best, but hey go for it.
