I am looking to upgrade my hard drive on the Vostro 1500 and I don't want to order from Newegg because I do that every time and this time I don't feel like waiting I just want to pick it up and throw it in my lappy so whats a compatible hard drive for my laptop that runs at 7200RPM from best buy?

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...636869&list=y&usc=All+Categories&nrp=15&iht=n

Maybe one of these Hitachi hard drives?

Hard Drive size is not that important...I want at the least 120GB

Thanks I really appreciate your help

Any 2.5 inch SATA hard disk drive should work. Hitachi and Seagate are the best hard disk drive manufacturers.

Any 2 x 2Gb package of DDR2 Pc5300 sodimm laptop memory will work in the Vostro 1500.

    Good luck with the upgrade

I agree, but. Also until someone touches it I am skeptical. I know WD owns that company what simpiltech? But is it the same? Let us see how it goes I have seen stranger. Like my computer came with a 4200 HDD but it is really a 5400 HDD. And I believe Best Buy was selling 160GB HDD w/16MB cache saying they were 8MB.

Yeah I am I just wanted to get everything done with today.

Hey question-How do I fully transfer everything on this laptop 80GB hardrive to my new one when I only have on drive? I downloaded Acronis True Image but the instructions and FAQ are terrible.

Can you really just copy the entire hard drive to the new one using this software?

I'm sure you can, but I've never done it, so I can't help you with that. ;)

Check the Seagate link I gave you above. ;)

They will physically fit, but there is one problem you run into. You do not know whether the 250gb drive is ata or SATA. The 320gb is only offered in SATA, so you know that that one is a SATA drive, which will work with your laptop.
However, the 250gb drive comes in ATA and SATA flavors, so if you choose that drive, the luck of the draw can only tell you which interface it uses.
Its most likely a SATA one, but you cannot be sure.

thanks man ... I will choose the toshiba drive ,,,,

WD website is useless ,, wasting 5 min looking around,, I couldn't determine if that was a SATA or not

while on toshiba's .. it was much easier ,, 1 min on the product specs page ,, and another min on the phone.
