Well since I upgraded to windows 8, I've been having problems with my wifi connection. Windows will tell me that I have no internet connection and the only solution is having to restart the computer. I visited intel.com only to find that my wifi adapter isn't officially supported in windows 8 :/ I was browsing amazon and stumbled across this Amazon.com: Intel Ultimate N 633ANHMW IEEE 802.11n (draft) Wi-Fi Adapter - Mini PCI Express - 450Mbps, Bulk: Electronics. It is officially supported in windows 8.

Would it be possible to upgrade my adapter to an wifi adapter such as this one?

    I have a gateway m-152xl.

    thanks.

Did you try downloading the latest/current Intel drivers? Do you have a hidden SSID? Is there other software on the system that is conflicting with the Windows wireless manager? Is your router the problem (does it need a firmware update)?

If the above have all been ruled out or already tested, then as long as your BIOS is not whitelisting which wireless adaptor it will allow, you should be able to put in any mini pcie compatible wireless card in.

Just note that your notebook may not have all the antenna wire/connections needed for the higher end cards - but it should still work 100% at the limits of your physical antenna connections. Also note that even if you add more antennae; you would still need to upgrade your router too to a 2 or 3 antenna configuration for maximum performance with your new card.

    Good luck.

You could try Windows 7 drivers with 8. Worked out during the dev preview as well as consumer preview.
