    Hello,

let´s get the specs out of the way first:
    model: VPC-EB3L1E
    type?: PCG-71211M

    Intel Core i3 370m
    4GB RAM
128GB Crucial M4 SSD (works fine)
Mainboard Chipset: HM55 (not very sure)
Screen: CHUNGHWA CLAA156WA01A (CCFL backlight, 1366x768)
there is a 30pin data connector and some kind of inverter

This is my first laptop I bought it a year ago. At that time I thought displayresolution is no big deal but the last few months I had to use the laptop more frequently and this display was just very annoying.

The PCG-71211M was shipped with different kinds of displays and the only full hd displays sold on ebay compatible with PCG-71211M have LED.

    Now I have 2 questions:
    1. Is it possbile to connect a full hd LED panel to my laptop?
    2. Are there any CCFL full hd panels compatible with my laptop?

    thanks

EB series should be LED, anything sold within the past 2 years is all LED. You'll likely need a 40 pin LVDS cable to get a 1080p screen to work. Be wary as the EB series is 15.5", not a standard 15.6" WS LCD.

I'm near 100% certain it's 15.6". Sony just calls it 15.5" to be different. (I refuse to call it 15.5" when recommending Sonys because that's not what it is :p)

Anyway, one way to check is to remove the LCD and check to make sure the cable is populated with all 40 pins. If so, you may also want to make sure that all 40 copper traces are present.

I did remove the housing of the LCD and there is a cable which splits into 2 cables. A 30pin cable which goes directly to the panel and the other half is connected to an inverter. The output of the inverter are 2 thick cables which connect to the display. I assume thats the power supply.

I do not know if this cable which comes from the motherboard and splits is a bundle of two completely seperate cables with different sources or just one cable with one source.
I´m a bit confused now. Is the CHUNGHWA CLAA156WA01A CCFL or LED?

    EDIT:
There is a second part number on the display: 156WA01S
and the inverter says 1-445-672-12 AVKB1
so it is a CCFL display.
