Save your money and skip turbo memory.

Because turbo memory was made for PCs with 512mb-1gb of ram on vista. Its OK for those type of rigs, but for less money you can get 2gb+ of ram and run faster.

I have 2GB RAM and 2GB Turbo memory in my T400 and its usefullness is negligible. Honestly, I dont see any benefit to having it on. The benefits even if they are present are negligible at best and from my experience I would say spend the $50 or $60 on more RAM or a faster HDD.

Mine even has a hybrid HDD and again the benefits of having that (396MB nvfllash cache) is minimal to non existant.

Because it is useless at best and a whole lot of trouble at worst. I have it installed in my current laptop and accidentally updated the driver for it -- really, really, bad idea because with the new driver, I had a guaranteed BSOD whenever the computer woke up from sleep. Rolling back to the old driver was not trivial at all (it relies on some other program from Intel that also needs to be rolled back). I disabled it for a while and now I've finally managed to get it working properly again, but the difference is negligible.

The idea is not bad, but the implementation is utter garbage. I should have bought the TV tuner (or pretty much anything else) instead.

Currently, Intel Turbo Memory is almost useless if you have an amount of memory higher than 2 GB, the performance bump is negligible at best, and it is a really immature technology.

Wait for the successor of Intel Turbo Memory, the technology will be more tested, probed and mature by then.
