    Hi,

I have been trying to find an answer to this question, but many of the posts that talks about laptop GPU upgrades are quite old. So I was hoping things changed :)

I have a Touchsmart TM2 with a dedicated ATI 5450 GPU. I wanna know possible is it to change that card and add much more powerful GPU ? Such as an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 ?

Thanks for any help in advance :)

I believe it soldered on the motherboard so you in no way can upgrade it.

Even if you could upgrade, you'd have to be mentally insane to put a 5870 into a 12-inch notebook.

Thank you all for the replies.........I thought it wasnt gonna be possible, but had to be sure !

Well, I mentioned 5870 as an example of a high end card, but still why would I be insane to put it into a 12-inch Nb ? Wuts wrong with having a high end GPU on an ultra portable tablet ? I mean I do like gaming very much and although I didnt buy this tablet for gaming, but It would be great If I could put on it most of my games to play when free. The 5450 doesnt cut it. It cannot play games like GTA IV.

    HD 5450 TDP: 11 Watt
    HD 5870 TDP: 50 Watt

Thats 4.5 times the heat/current. It would melt.
