Hi, im sorta a nub when it comes laptops and installing hardware so i figured i'de ask here. I recently bought a HP Pavilion Dv7-1464nr Notebook PC, and i was wondering if theres a better graphics card i can purchase for it and if its possible to install it.

I wasnt sure because most parts seem to be built into the laptop and look either difficult or impossible to replace or upgrade without an exact size match...

I plan on playing some pretty high req. games so i need the best graphics card this laptop can handle or is compatible with

Even if it is a MXM 2.0... not that I am sure that is what type of MXM card you have.. it would be difficult.. most people will say it can not be done.. but it really is about the cost and time spent verse the result.. it is almost cheaper to buy a new laptop than tinker.. if you had a clevo.. then maybe a much easier way to swap a bad GPU..

HP's consumer laptops all have their graphics cards soldered onto the mainboard. You cannot upgrade it...unless you purchase a HP dv7 motherboard that has a more powerful GPU built in. If that exists at all.

It is possible to upgrade, but you need a motherboard swap to do it. You will also need a new heatsink. It will run you about $250 for an upgrade like that, which isnt really worth it. However I do know someone who has done the upgrade.

Nope not possible unless you swap your motherboard with a another one with the same Dv7 series model.
