Hi guys I'm new on this forum.
I have an acer aspire 7720 notebook and I would like to upgrade cpu and ram and why not also the gpu.

But my first question is how do I find a compatible cpu?
On a desktop I would search the socket and then all the cpu compatible with it.
Here I don't even know how it works. Whats the socket and so on.

    Same is for the ram.

Gpu I think requires some more research and I might have also some driver related issues, or I'm I wrong?

Can you help me somehow? Is there a cpu compatibility list?

Do you alsp know if I would run soon in other bottlenecks? (Ssd upgrade apart).

    Thanks for reply

You're cpu is soldered on, you don't have a gpu and crucial has a ram checker on their website.

You can upgrade to Socket P CPU listed here: Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 processor - LF80537GG0332M (BX80537T7100)
You can not upgrade your graphics as they are integrated graphics.
You can upgrade your memory up to 4GB DDR2 667MHz.
There's a lot of information around in this forum, have a good read about various upgrades and post your question if you need any verification.
EDIT: Post your system info, which CPU currently have, RAM ....etc.

Thank you very much for your reply. So I have socket p ;) nice to know.

I arrived on this forum finding a thread of year 2011 about the same upgrade, but the info there isn't enough.
As you know are there problems going from a dual to a quad core? I see tdp is 45 and not 35, its about 25% more...

I'll search a second hand cpu once I have it I open the pc. I'm used to build custom pc but never worked on a laptop.

Arrg 256 mb of vram are not much :(

A CPU upgrade for that notebook is throwing good money after bad. Even a cheap AMD A Series based notebook will run circles around what you have.

Yes I know, but I was seeing similars cpu on sale for 20-50$, (inSwitzerland 15-40francs) and then I thought about an upgrade.
The laptop is like brand new as I almost only used it plugged eith electricity and closed connected to a projector.

If I find a cpu I'll try te upgrade ;)

    Thanks much for your advice

Before buying you should first dissemble the laptop and find what kinda socket you have so you do find the right CPU then go looking to see what you can get. Also what is the complete model number of your Acer as I know after that first number there is more number to give a more detail as which model your referring to about??
