I purchased my M1330 in Jan2008. The following specs apply to the upgrade in consideration:

    Processor T7500, 3GB DDR2 667 (PC5300), 250Gb HD, Windows Vista 32bit

    I'm considering the following:

Upgrade to 4GB, larger HD and Windows 7 64 bit.

My question is regarding the RAM. While I believe my processor would support DDR2 800 (PC6400), I am unsure if the motherboard would take advantage of this. Is there anyway to find this out prior to purchase?

Additionally, I have all the dell drivers for the chipset etc, but do I require more updated drivers for Windows 7 64bit? The dell website does not even offer me the option for Windows 7 64 bit drivers.

The 965 chipset is designed for DDR2 667, so while DDR2 800 will work, it'll simply be downclocked to DDR2 667 speeds. In other words, just get whichever's cheaper.

Windows 7 will install most of the necessary drivers automatically if you're connected to the internet during setup - BlackRussian miraculously got all of his drivers automatically installed, though he's the only one I know of who had such good luck. For everyone else, there's Vista drivers.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if it is possible to upgrade the graphics chip on my M1330?

I do not believe it is possible to do without some serious replacement (fan/heatisnk assembly for one part).

i doubt your going to find another GPU for the M1330...you'll need to replace the whole mobo and i doubt your going to find one with another GPU other than the 8400M GS... you can easily upgrade the CPU to anything to T9300/9500... you can upgrade the Hard drive to the Hitachi 7K500 500GB Hard drive... you can also use 8GB RAM if u want...if u want a better GPU , new notebook is on order...
