Houdy Guys,
I just bought an HP dv2125nr notebook, these are the specs:
Microprocessor 1.6 GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-50
Microprocessor Cache 2 X 256KB L2 Cache
Memory 1024MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
Memory Max 2048MB
Video Graphics NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (UMA)
Video Memory up to 128MB (shared)
Hard Drive 120GB 5400RPM (SATA)
Multimedia Drive LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD±RW with Double Layer Support
Display 14.1 WXGA High-Definition BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
Fax/Modem High speed 56k modem
Network Card Integrated 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector)
Wireless Connectivity 802.11b/g WLAN
HP Features HP Imprint finish & HP Pavilion Integrated Microphone
Sound Altec Lansing
sorry I just copy and pasted. Anyways I'm having a lot of issues running simple games like quake 4 (Lowest setting) and UT '04 with any sort of FPS.
I've already upgraded to 1.5 gigs of ddr2 5300 memory, if I buy the Tl-64 (as opposed to the Tl-50 which I have now) will it be compatable?
Model Number Thermal Design Power Frequency L2 Cache
TL-66 35W 2.3 GHz 2 x 512 KB
TL-64 35W 2.2 GHz 2 x 512 KB
TL-60 31W or 35W 2.0 GHz 2 x 512 KB
TL-58 31W 1.9 GHz 2 x 512 KB
TL-56 31W or 33W 1.8 GHz 2 x 512 KB
TL-52 31W 1.6 GHz 2 x 512 KB
TL-50 31W 1.6 GHz 2 x 256 KB
and also the graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (UMA)) is said to only go to 128 MB however when my computer was on the fritz in the bios I got it to go to 256 MB, and in the video information on the computer it ssays it''s capable of going to 512MB. I would really appriceate any advice on how to upgrade my computer just a bit.
Thanks,
Bubba

The TL64 will work, but for gaming you're limited by the GPU and that's not upgradeable. HP only puts decent video cards in their configure-to-order machines on hp.com, and even then.

You need to move to 2GB of RAM so that you have matched pairs. DDR technology relies on having two identical DIMMs in the slots.
Frankly I wouldn't bother with the CPU upgrade -- doing **** like that to laptops is incredibly tricky and might not even be possible (some companies solder the CPU to the motherboard to stop you from removing it).
My advice is to move to 2GB of RAM and be done with it. If you truly need more horsepower, sell the laptop and buy something else. -

Agreed with the above poster- go to 2GB of RAM and stop. By upgrading the CPU you void your warranty. It is not a cost effective upgrade at all.
Unfortunately that laptop is not good for gaming because of the integrated GPU. -
Hey, thanks very much. I figured it was the GPU but I wanted an experienced opinion on the matter with the tl-64 starting at $350.00 I don't want to make a mistake. Would it at all be possable to raise the memory on the video card? Would i need to find an upgrade for the bios, and even if I did find one what is the chance that it would cause sysstem instability?

The 128MB as set by the BIOS is for the sole use of the GPU and Windows wont see it. The GPU can further if necessary use more memory upto 512MB. So, there is no need for any BIOS updates since the system will allocate memory as required.
Upgrade for the Dv2125nr
