They don't seem to give you the option to downgrade on this laptop from what I've seen.

Check this link you may find some drivers that work still: VAIO : Sony Europe

If this doesn't work for you, grab the model number of each part which requires a driver and go to that specific manufacturer's website and see if they have support for XP.

"Upgrade" from vista to XP made me lol :D Vista's supposedly the newer one but considering how much better XP can be makes that statement sound so true

Won't Windows update be able to find it for you?

I take it as a "downgrade" from Vista to Windows XP. Sony's tend to be notoriously hard to find drivers for OS' that isn't originally preloaded with the system, especially for consumer systems.

For video controller that's most likely your graphics card. Since looking at the VAIO specs it came with a 945GM chip you can have a try with this generic video driver from Intel (assuming you got the Intel Integrated Graphics version).

Mass Storage Controller I would suspect to be your Memory Stick device. It's usually manufactured by Texas Instruments if I recall from previous experience. I can't guarantee but you can try this driver to see if it works.

Modem on High Definition Audio Bus is an iffy one. Looking at the VAIO website your come with the Realtek version so you can try the OEM drivers from Realtek to see if it works out for you. If that doesn't work you probably need the Modem driver to trigger the driver installation instead.

If you still have problems your last resort is to try and force some drivers manually from the VAIO support site to load under XP but this can be hit and miss.
