Upgrade from T8100 to T9300/T9500 (or potentially a newer one in future).

    Hey guys,

I have a AW m15x with T8100. Because i wanted the badass 8800M GTX I couldnt spend much money on the processor. But in future (in half a year or so) I would like to buy a newer one, probably T9300 or T9500, and would change the CPU myself seeing as its not that hard.

My question is that if I go from T8100 to T9500, would it overheat or the fan is enough to cool it? And if it is, then would it stand a X9000?

    Thanks.

You could go up to a T9500 though there's not much point unless you do heavy media work since games won't use up your T8100 fully (EDIT: aside from RTSes like Supreme Commander and the like). To the X9000, you can't put that in your laptop since it requires 44W IIRC vs the T9500's 35W.

    Thanks for the reply,

I wasn't really taking the X9000 seriously seeing as its no point especially when the T9500 will be more than enough. But thanks, I'll take it into consideration whether I'll upgrade it afterall.

    That's actually false.

Alienware actually offers the M15X with the X9000. However, last I heard, the X9000 wasn't overclockable on the M15X, rendering it rather moot. Go with the T9300 if you must.

That said, the T8100 should be quite adequate.

90% of the time system slowdowns are not the reason why your laptop is slow.
It is either a slow harddisk, low memory amount, or tons of improperly allocated programs.
Run msconfig, and shut off any unnecessary background programs, processes and services. This will help free up cpu cycles, decrease boot times, and decrease memory and harddisk usage. And yeah its free. It just takes 5 minutes.

The T8300 is already a very powerful cpu, so you really will not feel much by upgrading your processor.
