Is there any way I can upgrade to a faster CPU from a T2400? I have an HP laptop which I bought a year ago and looking to upgrade the CPU.

I contacted HP and was told there was no way I can upgrade the CPU? Is this true?

Looking for a 2.0ghz+ cpu for my HP Dv1000. If I can upgrade it, then, I would just keep the laptop. Let me know, thanks in advance!

    The T2400 is a core duo 1.83Ghz processor with a 667Mhz FSB.

    This processor can be ugraded to a T7200 (2.0Ghz), T7400 (2.16Ghz) , or a T7600 (2.33Ghz)

These processors are a bit expensive, and may not be worth it.

Actually, it may not be possible.

In theory, it should work. The chipset will support it. But it does require a BIOS that will recognize the meron cpu (T7200, T7400, etc.).

As RogueMonk said, it is only possible if:

A: The Processor is accessible and isn't soldered in.
B: You can successfully obtain and update the BIOS to work with the new processor

I'd suggest looking for people who have your exact laptop and have attempted this procedure before you even think about opening up your machine.

    T7500 is socket P

T2450 is socket M,, so you will not be able to swap those 2 CPUS...

    you need a T7200, T7400, or the EXPENSIVE T7600

    sorry for the bad news

on MOST p2 and earlier laptop CPUs, they were solderd to the motherboard..
Pentium III and newer CPUs are almost always socketed.

Some ultraportables like the D430 use soldered CPU, but mostly their socketed.
