My warranty is coming to an end but I'm looking to extend it for another 2 years for a mere £20. However I could really do with a better LCD and another 4 gigs of RAM to be safe. Unfortunately the only to increase the memory is by taking the hold thing apart and ofcourse a new screen would require that too.

    What options are there?

Have you asked technical support if you'd void your warranty by doing these upgrades? You may want to do that just to see what they say.

RAM upgrade will not void your warranty.

    Screen upgrade will. Theoretically speaking.

This holds true in the US - the story might be different in the UK.

    Good luck.

Ask Lenovo, they may still honor the warranty on components that weren't messed with even if you change the display or they may not. Dell honors the warranty on Alienwares, Latitudes and Precisions as long as "genuine Dell parts" are installed.

If your laptop is the same as in your signature: IdeaPad Z510

You might loose warranty for replacing the ram too, since it is not designed for quick replacement.
