    Hi,

    I just purchased an HP g7z2100 Laptop and want to upgrade the memory. I bought the memory but am trying to determine where the memory is located. There is a section on the back with one screw, but when I try to unscrew it the screw will not come all the way out. The section has HP ProtectSmart on it. Can anyone tell me where the memory is on this model? On the back or under the keyboard? Just don't want to break something trying to do a simple upgrade. Appreciate any feedback.

    Hi,

    It's good idea to upgrade your memory to achieve Full speed of your laptop.

    The memory slots are under the backplate;

    1. Using a small Phillips screwdriver, loosen the service door capture screw. The screw won't coming out, bat that is Ok.
    2. Slide the service door forward slightly and lift the front right corner to tilt the service door.
    3. Remove the service door at an angle.

    AKA it's really not meant to go out all the way--this is so you won't lose the screw for the backplate.
