Well I am planning to upgrade my ram in the near future but I am unsure which kit will be the best/most reliable. I am looking a three different brands from newegg and I have the links listed below. the brands are Corsair, G.Skill, and OCZ and I don't plan to spend over a $100 and these are all in my price range.

    Newegg.com - CORSAIR 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 Laptop Memory Model CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9

    Newegg.com - G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-8GBSQ

    Newegg.com - OCZ 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Laptop Memory Model OCZ3M13338GK

    Thanks for your help.

Any one of them would be fine, and I doubt you would see a differance in any of them. I'm using the G.Skill at the moment.

Mushkin and Gskill are my fav two brands since they always came through in CS, Rebates, and Warranty.

Corsair used to be and still is for certian products overpriced, and OCZ is the only RAM that failed me early and the only one to not come through on a rebate for me thus I never get that brand anymore.

I have that G.Skill kit, and it's working well so far. The company has great customer support. They replaced a dead stick of DDR2 RAM that was nearly 5 years old with no questions asked.

I got the exact same G.Skill kit over Black Friday. It has been working well for me.

supply and demand. most of the fab have switched to DDR3.

Actually, DDR2 2GB is not too expensive, it is the 4GB module that is very expensive(comparing with DDR3).

Because demand of DDR2 is slowing down with every new CPU and motherboard supporting DDR3. Because of this, they either reduce the production or even stopping the DDR2 production in favor of DDR3. Less/cease production = increase price

Same goes some time ago when DDR2 becomes mainstream and DDR1 price start to shoot up.
