I upgraded my Ram to 1.5 Gigs. Added a 1 GB and tossed one of the two 512mb ones. SONY didnt recognize it or didnt warn me at start-up (Im used to getting a beep since I upgraded on Dells before and they would always warn you on start-up). Anyways w/o the alert, it still is recognized since I right clicked on my computer(properties) and checked out the general tab. Towards the bottom it reads...
Intel CPU at 1.83 GHZ, 989 Mhz, 1.50 GIG of RAM. SOmetimes it reads 1.83 Hgz, and 1.83 Ghz, 1.50 gig of ram.
My question is relating to the 989 Mhz. Why does that switch? I noticed that on previous systems too. It wouldnt match up with the exact processor speed I have. Is there somethign wrong with how I upgraded the ram?

No, that's perfectly normal. Notebooks (and even desktops) throttle down the processor speed when all that power isn't being used. If you did something that required the full power of your processor, it would throttle up to full speed. If this disturbs you, you can turn it off and have it at full speed at all times, but it will decrease battery life.

If you want to see if your processor goes at full speed, go to a webpage with flash on it or use a program like SuperPi, and then check the same status sheet. You'll notice the processor up at full speed.

If you set the WIndows Power scheme to Always On or Desktop, it will stay at full speed. Useful for DTR notebooks with good cooling where performance is needed.

Cool thanks. I just thought it was b/c of the upgraded RAM..some issue. Thanks again
