You are not going to be able to upgrade it to anything useful, even if it can be upgraded to start with.

Sadly Greg is 100% correct. The good news is you can get a dual core CPU and decent IGP that should crush your current for as little as say $400 to $500 if you look around. I hope that fits your budget. And if you have more to spend you can get more.

This is a good time to upgrade too, I might add. The newest generation of technology is out, which lowers the prices of the previous generation. So it is win-win either way you choose. But in all reality, both generations of technology are going to blow away that notebook you have in terms of raw power and ability.

Perhaps starting a thread in "What Should I Buy?" and using the FAQs will show you what you can do with your money.

I kind of had a feeling I wouldn't be able to do much with it, I only need it for business use anyways, unfortunatley it was all I could afford, I got it on trade for some other parts, total cost was prob. about 60 or 70 bucks.
    Thanx for responding though.

    Wow...$60-70 isn't bad :D.

You might want to check out the BST forum, there are a few cheapies there too that are $350 and less...

    "...850mhz

    ..."

There are 2 things you can usually upgrade. You can usually increase the available memory. If you can take it up to 512 megs or better you will see a significant improvement in both your video performance and your general system speed. The 2nd thing you can upgrade (usually) is your hard disk. You can usually get a bigger one and sometimes get a faster one. Most after market laptop vendors can tell you what the maximum memory you can put on it is and offer you a price for a HD upgrade. If you want, they will sell you a HD upgrade kit that makes changing the HD fairly painless by putting your old HD in an external drive case so you can move the data/programs etc back over easily.

    HTH,
    Tom
